Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar was the American and British sitarist. She was the first and first female to win the British House of Commons Shield she's received nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to play live in concert and be a presenter for the ceremony. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young emerging superstar on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Her childhood was spent bouncing around from London to New Delhi. Her debut performance was in New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. At the age of 13, she finished her high school studies at Encinitas CA. Her career as a recorder and performer is remarkable, even at her age. She frequently joins her father in performances this she's done for a number of years. In 1998 she released her first self-titled album Anourag. In 2002, she released her Grammy award-winning album Live At Carnegie Hall. The stage work she has done is broad as she's performed in most of the biggest venues in the world. Anoushka's career goes beyond music. Bapi The Love of My Live is her 2002 memoir, that was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she starred as a character in Dance Like a Man as a Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka Shankar's professional career is continuing to unfold and we're likely to see a variety of things from her in the years to be. Anoushka Shakar was born in England spent a large part of her adult life in London Delhi. Following her move to California she graduated from high school. Anoushka started her music studies at the age of nine. A few years later she performed her appearance on the sitar in Delhi at her father's 75th birthday celebration. Anoushka's father toured around the globe with her, and she gained many experience. As she was in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD music festival. She was the youngest woman to receive the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musicianship within performing in the Asian Arts.
